APFT Failure Counseling Example
When a Soldier Fails the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) it can greatly affect a his or her chances to advance
and get promoted therefore it is extremely important for all Soldiers to be aware of the consequences of failing the
APFT, such as losing tuition assistance, attending WLC, receive awards and all favorable actions due to being
flagged, this information should be documented on DA Form 4856 Developmental Counseling Form as soon as the
Soldier show signs of having a poor level of fitness or when the Soldier fails a diagnostic APFT.
